Buffers and Drivers
4049: Inverting buffer:
- Used as an (inverting) buffer to restore logic levels.
- If the input on the inverting buffer is '0', the output will be '1'.
4050: Buffer:
- Used as a buffer to restore logic levels.
4066: Bilateral switch:
- An electrically controlled switch. When the enable input is high, an electrical connection is made between the other two pins.
74125: Tri-state driver:
- When enabled, the part acts as a buffer, with the input logic level appearing on the output.
- When not enabled, the output is effectively disconnected from the circuit.
